The business that has helped raise our family, that has served and taught the Ottawa area for over 47 years, was preparing to close up shop in July. With the current owner Brian Bloomfield’s health declining and the hardships of COVID-19, uncertainty got the best of us.
Since July my partner Andrew Lacelle and I have fought hard to continue on my families legacy. It’s been a trying month with many questions. But we asked all the right people. We are so proud and thrilled to announce that we are now the proud owners of Artistic Cake Design!
My name is James Bloomfield, I am the son of Brian Bloomfield and grandson to Artistic Cake Design founder Russel Bloomfield. I have been a decorator here for 5 years now and I have seen first hand how cake can make a moment. It’s the centerpiece to a grand gesture for the people we love and support. I’ve seen it in community celebrations my entire life… and if the sugar doesn’t get my heart going right now, that sense of congregation that we all miss so very much definitely will. We have an amazing team working with Andrew and I to adapt to these difficult times. We are looking forward to making more moments with you as we grow and adapt together!

I have been a customer for a long time. In fact, I took a course to learn the basics of decorating so I could do my own cakes as I was the go to back then for cakes for family events. Now my hands don’t work like they used to. Artistic has never let me down. Everyone in my family loved the finished cakes and yes sometimes I had to be the bad guy and cut into these artistic masterpieces. It was worth it. The inside was as delicious as the outside was beautiful. I drop by every now and then just to pick up some ready to go cupcakes or cakes. Here’s hoping you are here for a good time and a long time. Keep creating those beautiful, delicious desserts.
I just want to say that my experience with this company was fabulous. I wanted a cake with turtles. It was for my 20 year old granddaughter that has always loved them. Every detail was meticulous done. They are my new go to for cakes. Thank you
